About Dr. Weiss

Shelley Weiss, MD

Dr. Shelley Weiss was born in Chicago, but came to Texas as quickly as he could. He earned his medical degree at Rush University in Chicago, and completed his residency at Children's Medical Center of Dallas/University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in 2002. Dr. Weiss, a board certified pediatrician, was elected Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics in 2004.

In 2003 Dr. Weiss traveled to New York to study with the Rabbis at the Jewish Theological Seminary to learn the ruitual laws and customs of Brit Milah as part of their Brit Kodesh program.  This program trains Judaically observant physicians, already skilled in medical circumcision, to be Mohelim in their communities.  Dr. Weiss and 18 other physicians from around the country and the world, studied with Rabbi Joel Roth, Rabbi Neil Gillman, and other great Talmudic and theological minds.

Dr. Weiss performs hundreds of newborn circumcisions every year, and maintains credentials to perform them both in his own office, and in the hospital setting.  Dr. Weiss is a board certified pediatrician and a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics

Dr. Weiss and his wife, Simma, a family physician, have lived in Dallas since 1999, and enjoy raising their three sons: Yosef, Ephraim, and Mordechai.

The family are members of Congregation Shaare Tefilla, a Modern Orthodox synagogue in Dallas, Texas.
